A medium sized, well-built dog, robust, of straight profile, wide base and wide front, well proportioned. The head is expressive, large, sturdy, massive, and looks square in front. The muzzle is very wide with a black nose and large nostrils. Their mouth has dense lips, which are thick and fleshy. Eyes are wide set, oval and eyelids are dark. Their eyes range in color from dark-nut to dark-red, depending on the coat. Ears are set high on the head and take the form of a rose petal, but usually are short cut. Their colors vary from all types of brindle to very dark to gray or very light brown, blonde, fawn, red, or sand-color. Some might have white spots or other white markings on the chest.
