Vallhunds are an ancient breed, said to possibly be the ancestors of the Corgi. They are recognized by Sweden as an original species, going back over 1000 years, to the time of the Vikings, with whom they are said to have traveled. They are Herding Dogs and, when working, herd cattle and sheep. They actively work in Sweden and some other countries and are also used as herders in a few places in the US. They are great with adults, children, and other animals.
