He is a versatile hunting dog, resembling the English Springer Spaniel in color, although at one time he was considered to more closely resemble the Setters. Once on the verge of disappearing, he is re-establishing himself in popularity in France. He is intelligent, obedient and very friendly with strong bones and a slightly wavy coat.
